ABT (Automatic Ball Trap)ABT (Automatic Ball Trap) is where only one trap is used and target variation is obtained by the continuous oscillation of the trap in both horizontal and vertical directions in order to give the same spread of targets as in Olympic Trap. The targets are thrown with a wider horizontal spread than DTL of between 30 and 45 degrees either side of the centre line and to a greater distance of between 75 and 80 metres. Unlike DTL in ABT each competitor only fires at one target from each stand before moving one place to the right for the next shot. A squad normally consists of 6 shooters with the sixth person waiting behind the first shooter ready to move onto the first stand once the fifth shooter has completed their first shot and the line has moved one place to the right.
| Sportrap and Sport LineSPORTRAP is a variation on the sporting theme designed to pack the excitement of Sporting Clays into a limited space. Sportrap is essentially the same concept as other similar forms such as FITASC’s Compak Sporting. The term Compact Sporting can also be used to describe Sportrap as this describes succinctly the type of shoot. Sportrap is very much what the course builder makes it. It could be considered to be a halfway stage between English and FITASC Sporting with the use of single targets, report and simultaneous pairs. It places a premium on strategy and the ability to read targets with no pair ever repeated.
SPORTLINE targets are thrown either as singles or pairs, both report and simultaneous, from a pair of traps positioned to either side of the five position firing line. A set sequence of 4, 5 or 6 clays are thrown from each of the 5 firing positions from the traps which are set to throw quartering away birds at similar heights, trajectories and speed. |
