                                              FITASC

                                              INTERNATIONAL (FITASC) SPORTING
Fitasc, the name is an acronym of Federation Internationale de Tir Aux Sportives de Chasse. FITASC is an international form of Sporting Clays and enjoys a following the world over. Many would argue that it is the ultimate challenge in clay target shooting, and a World or European title is the pinnacle of anyone's shooting career. Fitasc gives a much greater variety of targets in terms of trajectory and speed, and is shot by squads of six competitors in rounds of 25 targets at a time.

From an open firing point (one metre circle, 6 circles in total), they shoot a selection of targets fired from differing traps. Singles are fired first, followed by doubles, until all shooters have fired from all of the positions. There is no set layout but it is down to the referee's decision, as all targets must be fired in safe directions. A shooter must have the gun out of the shoulder from the moment the target is called for and up until the target becomes visible. On arriving at the stand, the squad is shown the targets they will shoot. The first shooter will shoot all their singles from that stand and will then step off to allow the next shooter to move forward. The doubles are then shot with shooter number 2 starting, number 1 having dropped back to be the last person to shoot. On the next layout, number 3 shooter will lead off and so on. This means that a different shooter starts each time. Double targets can be simultaneous, on report or trailing, "raffael" in FITASC terminology.
On single targets, full use of the gun is allowed and a kill is recorded whether the first or second shot breaks the target. For the doubles, a competitor may fire both barrels at one of the targets if they wish. There is no penalty for doing so and the target will be scored if broken with either shot.

                                              SPORTING

The ENGLISH SPORTING discipline has the sport's biggest following.  While the other disciplines only use standard targets, in Sporting almost anything goes! Targets are thrown in a great variety of trajectories, angles, speeds, elevations and distances and the discipline was originally devised to simulate live quarry shooting, hence some of the names commonly used on Sporting stands:
Springing Teal, usually thrown from in front of the stand and fairly straight up into the air.
Driven Pheasant, a high and fast clay driven straight over your head
Bolting Rabbit, a target that rolls and usually bounces across the ground. The clay is thicker than that for a bird but the diameter is the same, it is in the shape of a wheel so it rolls.
Crossing Pigeon/Mallard often launched from a high tower or hill that cross from one side to another
Floating Duck,  a propelled floating target often moving towards the shooter
Driven Grouse, incoming targets that generally start low and rise up over the shooting station
                                              Looper,
as you would expect a crossing bird that follows a loop pattern
